Did you miss out on going to Rotterdam in 1982 for a certain game on the 26th of May? Were you too young? Not born yet? Couldn’t get time off work?  Didn’t fancy the ferry trip? Well, let us try to bring some of the experience of the finest Villa away day to you. With the 31st anniversary just passing, it’s also a good opportunity for those who were there to remember the trip.

After Villa supporter Katie Baragwanath kindly shared some ace Rotterdam 1982 pics of her trip,  we were delighted to receive an email to MOMS HQ from Villa Supporter Paul Wood with a fine selection of photos, including: Villans meeting the local police, on the coach, on the beers and in the stadium. Keep your eyes open for some vintage Villa fashion too – including Paul’s beret!

We’ve compiled the 14 Rotterdam 1982 photos below in the gallery (click on gallery for full screen experience). Enjoy. UTV

Thanks again to Paul and Katie for the superb pictures. Hopefully one day another generation will get to use their fancy digital and camera phones to take pictures of another winning Villa European adventure. If you have any personal snaps from the great day of 26th May 1982, please feel free to drop us a line on [email protected] UTV

  1. Ha! I didn’t realise Dave Seaman was a Villa fan. I’m on that one in the ground – somewhere.
I had all my Rotterdam memorabilia stolen, but I’ve got a pic from the away leg of the semi at Anderlecht, if you think it will be worth it.

    • meandmine Ha. There’s also a Steve Archibald (remember him?) look-a-like in one of those coach shots. Yeah, email the Anderlecht pic through to the email in the post. Cheers. UTV

      • MyOldManSaid meandmine Yeah, I see Archibald too.
OK, I’ll sort the pic out. It’s from inside the ground before the game.
