Five Reasons to be Cheerful as a Villa Fan…after 1-1 with winless QPR

With David Michael

It was a familiar story to Villa’s season, decent first half, not so good second half. With Benteke bossing QPR’s defense and Villa taking the lead with a Holman torpedo, it was looking good. The home team were always going to be buoyed by the Harry factor, but it certainly seemed through Lambert’s second-half substitutes that the Villa manager was consolidating a point rather than trying to turn the tide and go for the three points. Still, there were more things to be cheerful about…

1.  Mental toughness. The brittle nature of Villa in 2012 seems to be fading. Arsenal, Reading and now QPR, all needed mental resolve for the young lions to etch out results. Pretty impressive for a team with an average age just over 23.

2. Nathan Baker again impressed. He’s certainly proved himself and can be considered one of the four centrebacks a decent squad should have. Just one more needed since Richard Dunne has gone AWOL with a ‘mysterious injury’.

3. Bent made the bench. While he was there just to keep it warm against QPR, his presence strengthens the team, and since Villa are one of the lowest scoring teams in the Premiership, you know he might prove useful.

4. Are West Brom doing the lead balloon routine that at least one team does a season? While we shouldn’t be bothered too much about other teams, I’d rather focus on the Baggies than the Blues. Slagging off the Blues keeps Villa fans in a safe comfort zone; shouldn’t we sets our aim slightly higher than just competing with a lower-half Championship team? Lets catch the Baggies!

5. Villa are still in the League Cup for at least nine days and today saw Villa enter the FA Cup with a home draw against Ipswich. In it to win it.

  1. HELLO THERE
Well I am sure most must know my poitive VILLA obsession and i really am being serious that yesterdays game, was sooo good .Yes we didnt win but we won the best LOUDEST FANS  for sure the atmosphere was buzzing, cant explain it anyother way. The Villa lads worked hard. when i seen Bent on the bench, knew he wouldnt play, its all about tactics and just something that is unexplainable t the moment. We will find out what? Why? Soon? Cos there is more than meets the eye TBH. Moving on Ireland for me should have played he is quality, and although we had a few near miss Goals , we stayed at 1-1 but its a Good point w needed we are 16th in the League . I remember so many saying we were going down,. I didnt think it i had Faith when it was certainly needed. New tunes were there yesterday and the Whole atmosphere was none to be compared until the next time. Well done Villa Lads I am so proud i support, the Villa and always will.Through thick and thin sun rain or snow i will be there watching and being a big part of the VILLA.
