Beat Barnsley?

As each game passes by, Villa continue to slide down the table at an alarming rate. With a plethora of teams finding their feet in the Championship, all of our worse fears are playing out before us as Villa are being put at serious risk of being left behind the promotion pack.

With each draw being a nail in the coffin to Villas title hopes, the play-offs are still within touching distance and a win away at over-achieving Barnsley could kick-start Di Matteo’s Lions’ campaign

Here’s three ways of making sure it happens…

2. High Pressure

With Barnsley averaging an insane 15 shots per game, it comes at little surprise that they are currently the Championships top goal scorers. With the goals being spread out across the squad with players like Adam Armstrong, Alfie Mawson, Conor Hourihane and many more hitting the back of the net, it is hard to pinpoint a specific threat.

The only way we can stop this lethal barrage on Gollini’s goal is to close down as soon as possible. The slackness to press in the first part of the Newcastle game is simply not good enough. Any leniency or respect shown to this Barnsley team could have grave consequences to Villa’s chances of a win.

Tired legs may be a problem towards the end but it’s the only way to even get to the last 20 minutes unscathed.
