If Villa Stay Up, Christian Benteke Stays – It’s a Simple Equation.

We’ve said it many times before, we reckon that Christian Benteke will definitely stay at Aston Villa on improved terms, if Villa stay up.

If  you think a club such as Tottenham Hotspur could break the love affair between Benteke and the Holte End (see above picture), you’re having a laugh!

It’s common sense really. He’s 22. There’s plenty of time to play in the overrated Champion’s League. I’m sure Benteke’s far more excited about the prospect of playing for Belgium in the World Cup in Brazil next year. Being the top man at Villa next season, will help him cement his place as the Red Devil’s number nine.

Lambert has often called Benteke a ‘humble’ lad and I’m sure the Villa striker will be keen to continue to work with and repay the Villa manager for showing faith in him, when the likes of the ‘Sky Four’ were nowhere to be seen when he played for Genk. I’m sure he’s also enjoying settling in a team and culture where all his team mates are all around the same age.  They certainly respect him. Check out Fabian Delph’s quote in the Guardian this week about the beast:

“Defenders must come up against this boy and think: ‘He is 22, let’s try rough him up’. Every centre-back who has tried it has failed. His header [against] Sunderland [for Villa’s fourth goal], I think his head was above the crossbar. It was frightening. He has dragged us through so many games. I was quite surprised he didn’t get [the PFA] Young Player of the season.”

“If we are building around players like [Benteke], and we manage to keep him, which I think we are going to, then the future has to look a little bit brighter than it has done in the last few years.”

The much-improved Delph is spot on here. UTV
