What Scott Sinclair had to say about Signing for Aston Villa

After joining the club on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer, the correct ‘try-before-you-buy’ solution to what is on face value a gamble for Villa, Sinclair becomes the second Paul Lambert signing of the January window (third if you include Fabian Delph).

Below is what Sinclair had to say about signing for Aston Villa and also the views of the Villa boss on his new acquisition.

Sinclair on his New Home

“It feels great to be here and that the deal is finally done. It’s taken a few weeks but I’m happy to be here, to be in the building and to be signing for the club and ready to play some football. It’s nice to be able to get settled somewhere and be a part of something going forward.”

Sinclair on Conversations with Lambert

“I spoke to the manager, Paul Lambert, and he gave me his views on what he wants from me here at Villa. I am still hungry to play football, that’s what I told him, and I’m looking forwarding to getting started, hopefully playing every week and enjoying my football.”

Future Boy

“I believe I have my best years ahead of me. This is a new challenge, a new chapter in my life, and hopefully I can settle in as quickly as possible, have a good start and go from there.”

On former England Teammate Delph

“It’s great for the club that Fabian has signed his contract. I think he’s made a good decision signing here because he’s playing football every week and enjoying it at a great club. I’ve had a few clubs and been on loan a few times so I’ve played with a few of the boys here and I know a few more. That always helps when you go to a new team so now it’s about looking forward and pushing on.”

Paul Lambert on Sinclair

Past and Present

“I knew a lot about Scott from his time at Swansea, where he was excellent at Championship level and then was outstanding in their first season in the Premier League. He got a great move to Manchester City, where it didn’t work out as well as he probably would have wanted, but it’s up to us now to get the best out of him.”

Sinclair’s Attributes and what he brings to the Villa Party

“He’s got great ability and I’m looking forward to working with him. His goal record for a winger while he was at Swansea was excellent so he can add goals to the side, and he’s got great pace as everyone knows about. I think he’ll add something to the side and I’m delighted we’ve managed to get him here.”
