Youtube World Beaters

You know the drill. One of the first things a football supporter does nowadays when their team is linked to a player from overseas is search Youtube for footage of said player in action to see what they’re letting themselves in for.

Pretty much 10 times out of 10, whoever the player is, they look like world-beaters on Youtube. It’s as if a player’s agent cobbles the video together themselves to help sell their client.

Youtube has made potential legends out of Nicklas Helenius, Leandro Bacuna and Aleksandar Tonev to name a few, as they joined Aston Villa.

A bit of editing can do wonders for just about any player. You want proof?

Revisionist Richards

Check out what this hopeful Trabzonspor fan has done in creating a highlights package of Micah Richard’s time at Aston Villa. He looks rather good, it has to be said…

Surely it’s the work of Richard’s agent? Or even Tony Xia, wanting to get rid, for that matter!

It’s been widely reported in Turkey that Micah Richards will be joining Trabzonspor on a season’s loan, we’ll know if it’s true shortly, but it seems unlikely he’ll be at Villa Park after the transfer window closes in midweek.

Richards has perhaps been wrongly tarred with a ‘bad attitude’ reputation amongst some sections of the Villa support, as accounts from within the club seem to suggest to MOMS, he was one of the better eggs in the Villa squad of last season. Unfortunately for him though, there’s no excusing some of his decision-making and positioning in actual games.

The former England international potentially could have been a great signing for Villa, but the warning signs were after his time at City concluded with a failed loan period at Fiorentina.

There’s always been question marks about his positional sense from sections of Manchester City’s support and Villans received quick evidence of that in the first preseason games of Richard’s Villa career. But in this case, lets not let the truth get in the way of a good Youtube video.
