Aston Villa Abu Dhabi Friendly Added to Mid-Season Break Fixtures

Aston Villa Abu Dhabi Friendly

This week, Aston Villa publicly confirmed the club’s mid-season warm weather training trip to Dubai in December, which includes a friendly match against Chelsea in Abu Dhabi.

Villa will spend a week in the Middle East as the World Cup approaches the business end and before the Premier League begins again on Boxing Day.

Villa will face Chelsea on Sunday, December 11 (ko 2.10pm GMT) at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi (the home of Al Wahda FC). Both teams will be competing for the inaugural CBF | Al Wahda Challenge Cup.

Tickets for the match are currently available via Villa’s site, with prices ranging from 100-300 AED (approximately £22 to £66) .

The match is sandwiched between Villa’s match at Cardiff City on November 30th and hosting Villarreal at Villa Park on Thursday, December 15.

Unai Emery and the Villa squad have just completed their first week of training, after an initial holiday break, since the World Cup has been on.

World Cup Players

Currently, the four Villa players that went to World Cup – Emi Martinez, Matty Cash, Leander Dendoncker and Jan Bednarek – all have a chance of making it to the knock-out stages with their countries, with one game to go.

Martinez’s Argentina and Cash and Bednarek’s Poland face off in a clash that will potentially see some Villans unhappy. Poland need a draw to qualify, while Argentina will need to win to guarantee passage to the second round. If Saudi Arabia beat Mexico, then Emery will have at least one player back in his squad, earlier than expected.

Meanwhile, Dendoncker, after being dropped for Belgium’s 2-0 loss against Morocco, realistically needs to see his disappointing Belgium team beat Croatia in their final game to get through.
