Additional Aston Villa Away Ticket Issues Discussed

  • The group discussed placing a cap on the number of season ticket holders able to join the away scheme. General consensus was around 550 to 600. This was based on current expectations around the allocation we will be given at Burton Albion, and our being able to accommodate everyone in the scheme with a ticket.
  • With regards to the Aston Villa away ticket scheme, it was felt that the maximum number of returns from any one individual should remain at five.
  • As the order of sale is defined by the home club, the group suggested this was communicated when away ticket sales announced.
  • Club raised concerns over the movement of fixtures for TV, and the effect this will have on forward planning for fans.
  • It was noted that higher prices from PL clubs have reduced the number of fans attending certain matches.
  • Many fans will be looking to support the Villa at new grounds they have not been to before (Preston in particular highlighted by the group – don’t ask me why!).
  • Consensus that the current system of how away tickets are sold is fair and should be continued. The club will look to continue to reward those that attend the most games.
  • Lions Clubs allocation was noted as being fair, and an understanding raised that in the event of a greatly reduced allocation tickets should go to those that have travelled previously before Lions Clubs.
  • A question was raised about future purchases being added to loyalty at the time of purchases. It was felt that loyalty earned on given selling dates should continue to be retrospective.
  • Selling criteria advertised for Nantes friendly was questioned, in relation to away scheme members 16 17 having priority over those who went to every away match 15 16. Club did not think was correct but will check the wording. However, match will not sell out.
  • Point raised that Official Coaches leave too early, and should aim to arrive at a more reasonable time at the away ground. Club suggested this is a difficult, as arriving late would be significantly worse.
  • Brighton usually offer a guest beer for away fans – MOMS suggested it would be a good idea (if possible) to have a vote by the Villa supporters travelling, as to which local Midlands/Birmingham brew is served.
  • Club has been notified that trains to Bristol City will take two hours and will be diverted via Swindon.
