Aston Villa Injury News Ahead of Brentford Clash

Aston Villa Injury Update for Brentford

“The team is in decent shape, in terms of what we’ve got available for the weekend,” declared Aston Villa Head Coach, Steven Gerrard, during his pre-Brentford press conference, before adding a note of caution.

“You’ll be well aware that there’s a testing process we’ve still got to come through,” he added.

Gerrard confirmed that both Leon Bailey and Marvelous Nakamba remain long-term absentees.

One player who is more touch-and-go though, is Ashley Young, who has largely impressed since rejoining Villa on a free transfer.

“Ashley Young has got a real outside chance – he’s got a little fracture in his toe,” confirmed Gerrard.

“It’s probably too soon for Ash, but he is pushing and trying his best to be available.”

Suspension Woe

Villa’s captain Tyrone Mings will sit out the clash with the Bees due to suspension, so opportunity will knock for one of Villa’s squad centre-backs.

“Whoever’s picked to replace Tyrone, whether it be Kortney Hause or Axel Tuanzebe, they have to make sure that we don’t miss Tyrone,” said Gerrard, before extolling the virtues of his captain.

“He’s a fantastic player, he’s led by example so far. I’ve been really impressed with him not just on the pitch but off it as well. I’m sure he’ll be missed in certain ways.

“When you’re a manager, you hope that his replacement comes in and does a stellar job so that he’s not missed too much.”

Barring any late positive Covid tests, Gerrard should have a similiar team available to the one that faced Chelsea.
