First Up

Villa Park will be the first English ghost stadium witnessed on TV, as the 2019/20 season restarts.

It’s been reported in the Daily Telegraph that Aston Villa vs Sheffield United match will be the first game of the restart of the Premier League season on June 17th, with the Villa Park fixture given the earlier 6pm Sky Sports slot, while Arsenal vs Manchester City will kick-off at 8pm.

The two fixtures are the matches in hand that resulted from Villa and Manchester City’s involvement in this season’s League Cup final.

Villa had the distinction of playing the last game (9th March) before the season was suspended due to the Covid-19 virus. Although, they’ll hope the result of the first game back will be a vast improvement on the 4-0 loss to Leicester City.
