Aston Villa New Home Shirt and Update on Kit Supplier Situation for Next Season

New Shirt and New Supplier Update

Aston Villa’s home shirt for the 2021/22 season is finally here and it marks the third season for Kappa as kit suppliers. In last week’s Villa Fan FCG meeting (notes out 6pm today), MOMS asked for an update on next season’s kit supplier, but was told negotiations were ongoing and still to be confirmed. This situation hasn’t changed and was deemed as “commercially sensitive” at the time, in terms of naming the potential company.

Normally, at this time of the year, as well as launching the forthcoming season’s kit, it would also be time to sign-off on designs for next season’s shirts. As a result, Villa are facing something of a race against time to lockdown a new deal to make sure production of next season’s kit goes smoothly.

New Kit Design

Of course, views on the new kit design is always subjective, but below is what the official press release says about the kit:

Our smart 2021/22 Kappa kit is built around the traditional claret and blue colours of the club, the design features a double round neck and contrasted collar. The sublimated design on the front takes inspiration from the past success of the team through contrasted pinstripes within bigger vertical stripes.

The sleeves and the bottom part of the shirts will feature a colour contrasted insert, which brings dynamism to the overall look. Both the KOMBAT ™ PRO 2022 and the replica version of the kit will again feature a 3D silicone Villa crest, as well as the club’s iconic lion displayed at the top of the reverse.

New Season

While some supporters have voiced their desire to get the home shirt earlier, the tight turnaround of the season due to Covid and the event of the Euros was always going to make that tricky. At least they are ready for preseason, which kicks off next week against Walsall.

The likes of Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings, Emi Martinez, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn are expected to return to Bodymoor Heath in a few weeks time, as they enjoy a post-Euros & Copa America break. The good news for any nervous Villa fans regarding Jack Grealish’s future, the fact the Villa captain was front and centre of the campaign for the new kit, will give them confidence he’ll be at Villa Park next season.
