Aston Villa Nominee in the FSF Awards 2016

As many of you will have seen already, My Old Man Said has been nominated in the ‘Blogger of the Year’ category in this year’s Football Supporter Federation Awards (FSF).

Covering Aston Villa, My Old Man Said has the distinction of being the ONLY club-specific blog to make the shortlist of six.

First of all, thanks to anybody who nominated MOMS and to all that have since voted in the awards.

While MOMS has previously won twice at The Footballing Blogging Awards – winning the Best New Football Blog in 2012 and the Best Established Football Blog in 2014 – in our fifth year, this FSF Awards nomination is perhaps more valued as the FSF is perhaps the only football-related organisation in the UK that MOMS has total respect for and has been proud to be associated with and work with.

Supporter issues are very much the core reason MOMS exists, so it’s nice to have recognition from such a body. Also, the other nominees in the category are all authentic and true football voices, which are hard to find in the modern football media, which is increasingly populated by football blog ad networks churning out hype, cut & paste copy and clickbait.

I’m not interested in any personal validation from such awards, it’s more for the Villa fans that have supported MOMS and have been loyal to the website and social media channels over the years. It’s also a bit of fun and hopefully it’ll be an enjoyable night in a week or so.

The awards will take place at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London on Monday 5th December.
