New Villa Pre Season Fixture Marks Third Anniversary of Paul Lambert’s First Villa Loss

Aston Villa today have added a trip to the City Ground to play Nottingham Forest to their preseason fixture schedule.

With the game taking place on August 1st it’s almost exactly three years since Villa last visited Forest (personally a memorable away day and session afterwards). That game was Paul Lambert’s first loss (of many) as Villa boss, as his team wearing lime green slipped to a 3-1 defeat, the only highlight of which was a decent Barry Bannan freekick.

Forest will present a tough challenge again, as fitness-wise they will be at the end of their pre-season, which includes a three-game preseason tour of Sweden, which their first game of the season to follow the week after.
