Aston Villa Star Players of the Week After Winless Run Finally Ends

Aston Villa Star Players of the Week

3rd Place – Brad Guzan (1pt)

The American is week-in-week out becoming one of the best keepers in the league. His shot stopping is second to none and he commands his area with awesome authority. Guzan pulled off a few invaluable saves against Palace to keep the game in our favour and even though the team started to sit back, Guzan always looked a safe final barrier.

2nd Place – Carlos Sanchez (3pts)

The mighty afro is starting to get up to the pace of the Premier League and form an effective shield for the back four. There’s signs he has the potential to be a top holding midfielder for Villa. Something we’ve been crying out for (amongst a list of other things). Sanchez has a great feel for the game and reads danger brilliantly, which is something that we have lacked since the days of Gareth Barry. His ability to win 50/50 challenges and aerial duels is also priceless in a lightweight midfield.

1st Place – Christian Benteke (5pts)

The beast is back! Bullying, terrorising and ripping apart defences. Due to the lack of creation in the Villa midfield, luckily Benteke is the type of striker who can create his own chances. Villa are such a different team with Big Ben at the focal point. He seems to fill the whole team with confidence when he plays and perform at a higher level. In my opinion, the Belgian was playing at closer to his peak ability on Tuesday. I have the feeling that the cultured finish will fill his veins with confidence and he will go on a goal scoring run against many of the lesser teams.

The Villan That Has to Pick Themselves Up and Go Again

The Villa Board

The news is filled with stories about Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph stalling contract talks due to interest from bigger clubs. Why are we in this situation again? How many times now have our big players been threatening at leaving on a free at the end of their contract? Does it not make business sense to either renew contracts with two or at the least one year left or if not, sell them on? At times I can’t comprehend decisions made behind the scenes at Villa Park. Are there any proper football men in the corridors of B6?

Anyway, forgetting non-football goings on, onwards and upwards!
