The Aston Villa Wembley Pub List and Drinking Information and Tips

Aston Villa’s Wembley Drinking Zone

This week MOMS was involved in a conference call with Wembley stadium, the met police and other club and fan reps regarding arrangements for Villa’s semi-final vs Liverpool on Sunday April 19th. More of that to come, but here’s the most important information (or at least the one we get asked about the most) where to drink before the game.

Aston Villa will be in the WEST side of Wembley stadium (Wembley Central pubs). This split only applies to pubs directly around the stadium.

Pubs further a field (Kingsbury, Harrow, central London) are not restricted. It will be entirely up to the licensee of each respective pub to decide whether he/she has a mix of supporters or whether they go with just the one team. It will be their choice and nothing to do with police.

USEFUL INFO

Family Pubs

Many of the below pubs will accept families but again it is down to individual pubs so please check first.

The London Designer Outlet which is directly opposite the stadium has a number of restaurants which sell alcohol and are family friendly. There are also 3 external open air bars close to Wembley Arena where supporters can take children and enjoy a drink before the game (adults, not children!).

Stadium Drinking

Wembley Stadium will be opening its doors 2 hours before the advertised kick off and will be selling alcohol on the inside concourse (at ridiculous prices, as MOMS flagged to them this week). They welcome you into their stadium as early as possible to avoid possible queues at the turnstiles and to enjoy the pre match build up events.

Controlled Drinking Zone

Please note that the Borough of Brent (Wembley and surrounds) operates a Controlled Drinking Zone (CDZ). This prohibits the drinking of alcohol in the street. Police have the power to seize and dispose of open canisters containing alcohol in the street where necessary. This legislation has been put in place to protect local residents as they have previously suffered from drunken, anti social behaviour from supporters travelling to the stadium.

Last Orders Before Kick-Off

Bars surrounding Wembley Stadium will close an hour before kick-off

Don’t Look Drunk

Wembley Stadium does have the power to refuse entry into the stadium to supporters who appear intoxicated and look likely to cause trouble.
