Aston Villa’s Injury Concerns For the Leeds United Game

Injured Captain

Aston Villa captain looks more than likely to sit out Villa’s Friday night clash with Leeds at Villa Park, after also missing out against Cardiff City earlier in the week.

“I don’t think he’ll make it, it’s till a bit too early or him,” said Villa boss Steve Bruce, to the gathered reporters at the pre-match press conference.

Expect Mile Jedinak to step in at centre-back to cover Terry, as he did for the recent Cardiff City clash. Although, Chris Samba is also a consideration after coming back into the fold against Cardiff with a brief substitute appearance.

By the sounds of it though, Terry should be back for the trip to Ipswich on the 21st April.

Other Concerns and Missing Players

Another absentee from Tuesday, Birkir Bjarnason, who suffered a last-minute back spasm before the game kick-offed, after being on the first XI teamsheet, will be assessed in today’s afternoon training session.

If Bjarnason doesn’t make it, then Glenn Whelan will no doubt start again (less own goal attempts this time, please!).

Steve Bruce told reporters that Alan Hutton will return to training at the back end of next week, so the Derby home game looks to be the most likely game we’ll see him back in the match day squad.

Meanwhile, loanee Axel Zuanzebe, who “twisted his ankle in the challenge” will be out for a couple of weeks, according to Bruce.

Hopefully, Bruce will decide to give James Bree another run out.

“He’s not had much luck in terms of injury”, concluded the Villa boss.
