#50 Aston Villa’s Style, Problems, Goalkeeper and Pink Dressing Rooms Discussed

Only a few weeks of the season have gone and Villa supporters have already felt a full spectrum of emotions from the best start to a league campaign since John Gregory’s Villa to the disgust at the ineptitude of the Burton cup performance and hammering at Bramall Lane.

Last minute goals have determined several Villa results and the word ‘convincing’ is far from the Villa lexicon at the moment. It’s hoped that the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Anwar El Ghazi and Tammy Abraham can bring more of a cutting edge to the team and ease the growing pressure on Steve Bruce.

MOMS will release a podcast episode (#51) later this week to discuss the whole ‘Bruce Out’ debate and the meltdown that happened since the loan transfer window closed and Villa got beat by Sheffield United.

In the meantime, make sure you’re up to speed with the 50th episode of the podcast…

Episode 50 Show Notes

My Old Man Said editor and host David Michael is joined by both Dan Rodgers and Chris Budd to discuss the ever expanding Villa-verse, as Villa make hard-work of a relatively favourable early fixture list.

There’s the trials and tribulations of failing to beat a 10-men Ipswich and almost losing against Brentford, after bossing the Bees for most of the game, but only rescuing the game in the dying seconds. The reverse to what they experience days later against Reading at Villa Park.

There’s no words wasted on the Burton cup exit though, we’ll let Steve Bruce tackle that.

While we try to determine if it’s glass half empty or full time for Villa, there’s the usual fun and frolics, headlined by the return of Twitter with Tony.

    • Villa actually won more trophies when they didn’t have a manager. They only bothered with a manager in 1934…they’d already won six league championships and six FA Cup wins before then, when a committee would pick the team.
