Dean Smith Steps Up a Gear, Although Nyland is Key to Promotion Plans

The 3-0 win away at in-form Derby gave Villa fans the first real evidence and fruits of Dean Smith revolution, which certainly now seems to be heading in the right direction.

While My Old Man Said’s David Michael and Chris Budd bring the MOMS podcast up to date by looking back at the Derby game as the potential catalyst for the season, they also tackle listener questions in MOMS Question Time, questions that carry concerns to Villa’s ultimate promotion pedigree.

Press Play to Listen

Top of the list of concerns seems to be the current Villa number one, Orjan Nyland. Despite three clean sheets in his last five games, he hasn’t really been put under serious sustained pressure during this time.

Certainly the Blues derby will give him a chance to earn his spurs and give the Villa faithful an injection of confidence in him.

As well as Nyland, we look at the potential impact of Yannick Bolasie, question whether James Bree has a role to play this season, look at Neil Taylor’s improvement, and ponder whether Jack Grealish is up to scratch yet this season?

Also, we decry clickbait rumours and spotlight the trend of player hate clickbait articles based on fan tweets.

This is a catch-up show before episode 57 drops before the Second City derby.
