Final Countdown for Aston Villa Striker Wesley

Wesley Moraes Injury Update

There fast seems to be a new fitness race brewing at Bodymoor Heath. Who will be seen in the Aston Villa match day squad first out of Wesley and Jack Grealish?

With Dean Smith confirming the Villa captain will be out “a few more weeks”, there’s now a chance we’ll see the long forgotten Wesley first, despite the striker’s hashtag #BackManBackSoon, ultimately being somewhat of an anticlimax a few weeks ago.

Smith confirmed in his latest press conference the good news that there was no further complications in terms of Wesley’s recovery, after coming off in a recent U-23’s game.

“Welsey came off in an Under-23s game but it was nothing to worry about and he’s trained ever since,” confirmed Smith.

“He needs a few more games before he can be added to the squad.”

Next Season Focus

Wesley has been drastically unlucky since joining Villa, with his time on the sidelines coming up to three times the amount of time he’s actually played for the club.

His cruciate knee ligament injury was first expected to keep him out until the end of last year, but as is fast becoming the trend at Villa with injuries, he’s had to wait a lot longer to return.

For Wesley, whatever time he gets on the pitch this season, it’s really all about getting him ready for the season to follow, when no doubt he’ll be billed as being ‘like a new signing’.
