Further Aston Villa Fixture Changes After Everton Postponement

Latest Aston Villa Fixture Changes

After Aston Villa’s game this weekend against Everton was postponed earlier in the day due to the recent 14 positive Covid-9 tests in the Villa first team squad and staff, two further new fixture times have been announced.

The latest change is the new earlier time of 6pm for what will now be Villa’s next match, their trip to the Eithad to play Manchester City on 20th January. The match was due to be played at 8.15pm, after it was initially postponed from being the season opener for Villa.

Meanwhile, the rearrangement of Villa’s game against Newcastle United at Villa Park, which was previously postponed due to the visitors own Covid outbreak, has been confirmed for 23rd January (8pm), now that both teams are out of the FA Cup.

The rearranged fixtures set up a hectic final 10 days of January with the club having to play four fixtures in this period.

23: Newcastle (h) 8pm Sky
27: Burnley (a) 6pm BT Sport
30: Southampton (a) 8pm Sky

Villa will make it five games in 12 days when they take on West Ham at Villa Park on the 2nd February.

While big games against Everton and Spurs have been taken out of the month’s fixture list, January results will still go a long way in determining whereabouts Villa will be competing, when it comes to final shakedown of the league table at the end of the season.

With both the physical and mental demands on such a concentrated run of games in a short period, Villa will be doing well to pick-up two or three wins during this time, especially after their Covid situation.
