How Ex-Aston Villa Players Rate Now on FIFA and Who’s the Best.

Greener Pastures?

There’s no doubt Aston Villa have been in permanent transition and decline since Martin O’Neill walked out of the club. We all know the story of slow decay, but there’s some players that, while not rated during their spell at Villa, have certainly gone onto better things.

MOMS has already had a look at the current Aston Villa player FIFA 19 ratings , but lets see how some of the Villa players that left the club are doing. Especially the ones that were deemed not good enough…

For starters, Paul Lambert’s acquisitions Mathew Lowton and Ashley Westwood were largely written off at Villa, but, now, in terms of FIFA 19 ratings at least, they would be regarded as two of the best players in the squad.

Lowton’s 78 would make him Villa’s best player, pipping their current most highly-rated player Yannick Bolasie’s 77. While Westwood’s 75 would put him in join third place with Jonathan Kodjia and James Chester, one point behind Jack Grealish (76).

Speaking of Chester, who is currently Villa’s only recognised centre-back, he ranks lower than two ex-Villa centre backs who were constantly criticised by the Villa faithful. Curtis Davies, now at Derby County, is ranked at 77, while Newcastle’s Ciaran Clark scores 76.

That’s not to mention Gary Cahill, who O’Neill ditched a decade ago, who currently scores 81.

So, who’s the best ex-Villan still playing?

Well, not counting loan players (like Kyle Walker, who scores 84), it would be a player from the ill-fated Villa team that got relegated, Idrissa Gueye. Now at Everton, the defensive midfielder scores 83.

At his time at Villa though, having to shield the likes of Jolene Lescott and Micah Richards, Gueye would have needed to have a rating above Ronaldo and Messi’s score of 94 to have had any chance of success and keeping Villa in the Premier League.
