What We Learnt As Aston Villa Fans After Back-to-Back Wins Week

aston-villa-fans

The six-point boaster injection to Aston Villa sees the team taking the high ground in the relegation battle with just two games to go. They’re not out of the woods yet, but at the same time, there’s even the possibility of a top-half finish for the less pessimistic. UTV

1 – Gabby for England

It’s been quite a week for the lad from Erdington. On Monday he broke Dwight Yorke’s goal scoring record and on Saturday he nailed a victory virtually on his own.

Gabby is now reaching the kind of form that he all hoped he would and becoming the player that we all knew he could. He’s had his setbacks, and there were serious doubts over his future not too long ago, but it’s thanks to those setbacks that make his current goal scoring exploits all the sweeter.

He is dangerous from the wings and through the middle and when his confidence is high there is no stopping him. A cheeky call up to the England squad for this summer’s upcoming trip to Brazil could be in order, perhaps?

2 – Drag you to Hell

Before the Sunderland game, the final relegation spot was almost certainly going to be taken up by either Wigan or ourselves.

It’s 6-6-6 hell for Di Canio

However, after beating Norwich and Wigan winning at West Brom, the chaos we’ve created has meant that no one team in the bottom half of the table are safe.

On the face of it we couldn’t have two more difficult games to navigate ourselves to safety, but both Chelsea and Wigan have a fixture congestion coming up and they’ll have bigger fish to fry than us, which could work in our favour.

3 – Clint Westwood

Earlier this week somebody called the former Crewe man ‘the next Michael Carrack,’ which isn’t an unfair assessment. His range of passing, from the simple to the sublime, is all encompassing.

His flair for finding the simple pass is something we’ve been missing for a while and with a few more years experience under his belt at the top level there is no doubt that he’ll become one of the most efficient ball players of his generation.

4 – In defence of Joe

MOTD’s hatchet job of the highlights left a lot to be desired in many respects.

One of which ways was their depiction of Bennett as a loose cannon marauding around the pitch like some crazed madman with a Bowie knife between his teeth. The reality was somewhat removed from that. Whilst he may have been lucky not to receive his marching orders it’s fair to say that he was picked on.

Bennett already has a bad enough reputation at the club without stunts like this, it’s important that we continue to back him.

5 – Never rely on the Baggies to do you a favour

F**king useless, eh?
