Aston Villa Wait for Transfer Happening Before Making Move

Main Target?

Villa boss Steve Bruce recently stated he has feelers out for a loan or two this January transfer window, but that they would only potentially come to fruition towards the end of the month.

It’s thought that he’s referring to an interest in Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa and also maybe the Foxes’ midfielder Daniel Amartey.

Local Leicester press are writing that Leicester manager boss Claude Puel is trying to first offload and recoup money back for £30m man Islam Slimani. If they do then they will probably keep Ulloa on, especially as he signed a new contract last summer.

If Slimani stays though, with Leicester having depth in the striker department, they wouldn’t be adverse to sending Ulloa off on loan locally.

Unlikely Goss

The mention of Amartey though seems a little tenuous as Villa don’t really need any more midfielders at this juncture.

The same goes for the likes of Wigan midfielder Nick Powell and Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton. Villa have enough midfielders in the squad and the only thing that needs to happen is for Bruce to work out how to get the best out of them.

Ulloa at the moment seems the most likely and logical of the various rumours doing the rounds.

Beyond getting in cover for Kodjia though, it’s unlikely that Villa will spend any more, unless there are out-goings.

The likes of Birkir Bjarnason and Ritchie De Laet will be players that could move elsewhere to get first team football, after failing recently to break into the Villa team despite several injuries in the squad.

As MOMS has already written, the squad currently has the players for promotion, it’s just a matter of getting them playing in unison and with the confidence and pomp of promotion contenders.

  1. I read that we are about to complete a loan signing from Man U but come on he’s a defender, we need a striker and fast.

  2. SB should take a look at Ellis Harrison of Bristol Rovers – Young, strong skillful and good balance and touch – could develop into something really special and good for a goal or two now

  3. Villa don’t need midfielders? Jedinak and Whelan aren’t reliable.

Ulloa could easily go if Slimani leaves. Ihneacho doesn’t even get game time. Vardy and Okazaki are first and second choice and that’s about it.
