Was the Man Who Tried to Save England at Euro 2012 a Villa Fan?

As Alessandro Diamanti stepped up to take the vital spot kick for Italy against England, one England fan took to the desperate resort of dropping his shorts in a last-ditch attempt to save his country. I’d missed the picture that depicted the scene in the tabloids in the past few days, having only seeing the picture yesterday. Funnily enough, on the same day, I’d posted on the MOMS site a classic picture of Villa fans celebrating the European Cup triumph at the victory parade at Victoria Square in Birmingham in 1982. There was a striking similarity (see below)…could the England fan have been a Villa fan? Or was it mere coincidence?

I’m sure we’ll find out the next time Villa give away a penalty in front of the Holte End…
