Tyrone Mings Signs Contract Extension
Having recently switched his shirt number from 40 to 5, Aston Villa centre-back Tyrone Mings has signed a contract extension until 2024.
The England international has largely been a revelation since his time at Villa, initially on loan from Bournemouth and then on a permanent basis since last summer, for an initial fee of circa £20m.
With Jack Grealish signing a new improved contract last week, it was expected that Mings would more than likely be in the picture for better terms too, considering he was also an England international and a mainstay in the Villa team.
Despite the odd lapse before the Covid disruption to last season, Mings recovered his form during the restart period and will be an integral force, if Villa are now to go on and improve this season.
With both Grealish and Mings now receiving improved terms, Villa may now have more scope to offer bigger wages to any key transfer target, without upsetting their main two players.
The extension will be a further shot of optimism for Villa going into their belated start to the season against Sheffield United this evening.
More on the reality of Jack Grealish’s new contract and how it played out
Happy he been given an improved contract, but his performance needs to now step up aswel.
When is Villa’s best player(J,McG) going to get his contract improved
Not really impressed with Mings to be honest. I think Hause is a better player. Nevertheless, signing a contract extension like the article has implied means we have the scope to offer better wages to key targets.
