New Date for Villa vs QPR Game After Postponement and Refund Details etc

New Date for Villa vs QPR Game

As expected yesterday evening, when the weather went a bit crazy in Birmingham, today’s game against QPR at Villa Park, was called off this morning.

It’s the first game at Villa Park to be called off since the game against Leicester City in December 2000.

It was completely the correct call due to the serious transport difficulties and safety issues involved for supporters in trying to get to the game.

The rearranged fixture will now take place on Tuesday 13th March at 7.45pm

Supporters who bought a ticket for the game can get a refund (minus booking fee) or obviously use it for the new date.

Wolves home game against Reading and Coventry’s match against Lincoln City were also both called off in the West Midlands area, although they were called off for frozen pitches.

A frozen pitch is really the first stage of deciding to call a game off. Yet, they still announced their postponements after Villa did.

Aston Villa at least had done everything their end to be prepared for the game, with both the pitch and stadium ready for the game. The poor conditions around the ground and in Birmingham made it a no-brainer to call it off though.

On the bright side, at least Jack Grealish will now more than likely be available for the new fixture date.

PS – Before the internet and improved communications, back in the day, the first some Villa supporters got to know a game was off was when they saw the hand-written sign on the stadium gates!

Aston Villa Club Statement on Postponement

Aston Villa can confirm today’s game with Queens Park Rangers has been postponed in the interest of public safety due to the extreme weather conditions.

Despite the club’s best efforts, facilities at the stadium have unfortunately been affected by last night’s heavy snowfall.

The fixture will now take place on Tuesday 13th March with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Tickets already purchased are valid for the rearranged fixture or you can receive a refund excluding booking fee.

The club would like to thank supporters for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
