Positive Moves by Aston Villa After Coutinho Injury Sets up Interesting Month

Coutinho Injury Offset by Goodison Win

Philippe Coutinho Injury

After Philippe Coutinho picked up a hamstring injury ahead of Aston Villa’s trip to Goodison Park last weekend, Unai Emery’s match day squad started to look short of top quality depth up the top end of the field, after they also moved on Danny Ings in January. After losing three games on the spin, it was important to get back to winning ways asap, especially after shipping 11 goals in the process.

Coutinho is now expected to miss all of Villa’s action in March, although the international break will at least limit the amount of actual games he’ll miss. The injury is rotten timing for the Brazilian, who had started to find some form for Villa and recently scored his first goal of the season against Arsenal.

Villa plugged the dam against Everton and avoided a fourth straight defeat, after winning 2-0 at Goodison Park, to continue Unai Emery’s impressive away record and get Villa’s quest for a top-half finish back on track.
