Five Reasons to be Cheerful as a Villa Fan after Benteke Injury & Another Norwich Away Win

five reasons villa fans

Benteke Injury, Clean Sheet Miracle and Kozák’s first goal

1. Clean sheet. Nuff said. 26 games without one was getting a bit embarrassing. A good confidence booster for a beleaguered Villa defence. Massive credit to Brad Guzan for two key saves (including penalty) and a commanding performance in claiming anything Norwich threw into the box.

2. Ciaran Clark, a victim of stick from Villa fans last season, showed growing maturity and was everywhere today. We’ll overlook him giving away a penalty (handball with one hand, while tugging the forward’s shirt with the other!). Bacuna also did a decent shift at right-back.

3. Three trips to Carrow Road under Paul Lambert and three wins. Can we play them every week?

4. Lambert says Christian Benteke’s injury seems to be a hip flexor problem, after he slipped on the Carrow Road turf. The Villa boss also stated that Benteke was a “quick healer”. We’ll no doubt find out the full story on Monday, but reading between the lines, Benteke’s injury doesn’t seem to be too bad. Touch wood. Finger’s crossed. Etc, etc.

5. Libor Kozák opened his Villa account within seconds after replacing Benteke. It’s a good omen for Villa fans, with the Czech forward giving them some light at the end of the tunnel of Benteke’s injury  UTV.

  1. Hello everyone today’s result was a good win for us our supporters once again sang and cheered there way through what was a tough 90 mins at Carrow road .we played a good 45 minuets in the first half which had everything ,it was end to end and at time frantic .The penalty should never have been given so Guzan’s save was for me justice for a bad referring decision ,by the way I thought the ref was poor through out the game giving some very strange decisions . Clarke and and vlarr had a good game winning everything in the air the outstanding defender for me was Bacuna ,filling in at center half when it was needed he did an good job at full back and for the first time this season we looked like a strong unit at the back ..I don’t want to sound to harsh but our middle again looked a tad to soft ,Tonev huffed and puffed at time and was alittle slack in his passing giving possession away all to easy but I’m sure that over time he will settle down . Gabby was tormentor in chief today Norwich had no answer to his direct attacking play which worked to our advantage and ….. Well I could go on and on but I’m sure that you will all see the match tonight and make our own minds up . in short win won we kept a clean sheet and that should help build some more confidence ……
