Ross McCormack Signs for Motherwell and Labels Time at Villa “Frustrating”

‘Ross McCormack will now end his career without ever playing in the Premier League’.

Ross McCormack has returned to Motherwell on loan, a club that was key to his development between the years 2006 and 2008, but it’s hardly where he thought he’d end up now when he first signed for Aston Villa.

The loan deal at the moment will see him at Fir Park until the end of the season. Considering the player is reported to be on circa £40,000-a-week wages, it’s expected that the Scottish club are only covering a fraction of his wages.

Despite Motherwell announcing his loan signing by focusing on his record at Leeds United (58 goals in 130 starts) and Fulham (42 goals in 97 starts), after a couple of loan spells in Australia, his career has taken a severe drop in temperature (literally too).

McCormack will now end his career without ever playing in the Premier League.

“I am delighted to be back,” said McCormack, on Motherwell’s website.

“Although I was a youth player at Rangers, got a good education there and played some first team games, I feel like this was the club that helped launch my career and I will be forever grateful for that.

“I’ve had a frustrating few years and I am desperate to just get back on the pitch again and do what I do.

“I want to put something back in to Motherwell for what they did for me all those years ago. My aim is to come in and score goals, help the team and help develop some of the younger talent in the squad.”

With another season left on his Villa contract, it’ll be interesting to see if the loan is eventually extended to cover next season too.
