Rumours of Ross McCormack Suspension and Trouble Are Wrong (aka BS)

Fake News Down Under

The rumours that Ross McCormack had been late to training leading up to a Melbourne City match and then was dropped, have been dismissed as “wrong” by Melbourne coach Warren Joyce.

Australian newspaper the Herald Sun had reported that McCormack missed last Friday night’s 3-1 loss to Brisbane Roar due to an internal suspension due to his mooted lateness.

The rumour started by the paper fuelled social media outrage by Villa supporters, despite no one pausing to get official comment from the club (that’s why MOMS waited before we wrote anything).

Joyce though confirmed that there had been no such disciplinary reasons for the 31-year-old striker’s absence and it had been down to the injury that the club had initially announced.

McCormack, Melbourne City’s current top scorer (with four goals), returned to the squad for his team’s upcoming game against Perth Glory.

Real Reason

“Ross has had Achilles injuries since he came to the club, he didn’t fulfil a full training week last week,” said Joyce.

“He has been in at 7am in the morning, swimming, he has been in training, he has trained in the afternoon, he has conducted himself well since he has been at the club to get his life and career back on track.

“If you ask around the dressing room he’s a popular lad, he has done everything I have asked him to do. He’s more popular (than anyone) with the kitman because he gave his $500 cheque from Fox Sports away because he didn’t think he played well when he got man of the match (in the win over Adelaide).”

Considering Villa’s current striker injury crisis, McCormack, who is expected to return to Villa in January, may offer the club an option on his return, after it was initially thought his B6 career was over.

  1. Why don’t we play O’Hare in the first team ? Come on Bruce get him in with Davis and then maybe we won’t need to consider McCormack. And I’m pretty teed off with all of this Anoma talk if he goes back to Spurs so be it but surely we have to wait until the end of the season and see where it goes if Spurs say he’s 3rd or 4th choice he might just be better off staying particularly if we are promoted. Loads of fake news and paper talk which I just think is a load of rubbish.
