Significant Covid-19 Cases Confirmed by Aston Villa, as Training Ground is Closed

Aston Villa’s FA Cup match against Liverpool and their next league game against Spurs are under the possible threat of postponement, after the club confirmed ‘a significant Coronavirus outbreak’ at the club’s training ground.

A large number of first team players and staff have returned positive tests.

The news reflects the increasing seriousness of the pandemic, as cases worryingly increase across the UK.

The club’s initial statement is as follows:

Aston Villa Covid-19 Statement

Aston Villa can confirm that the Club has closed its Bodymoor Heath training ground after a significant Coronavirus outbreak.

A large number of first team players and staff returned positive tests after being routinely tested on Monday and immediately went into isolation.

A second round of testing was carried out immediately and produced more positive results today.

First team training ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup match with Liverpool was cancelled.

Discussions are ongoing between medical representatives of the Club, the Football Association and the Premier League.

  1. Awful news, but perhaps it’s not such a surprise. Given the long lasting nature of a serious lung disease, and the implications for people who need to be in peak cardio vascular health, we just have to hope that all the lads can dodge the bullet and get over this as quickly as possible.

Same for the players of all the teams really, and of course everyone else out there reading this.

  2. whilest getting more results would be good for morale probably best if games are cancelled even if it increases the backlog og games to be played
