SKY TV Dates for Aston Villa Questionable as Final Deadlines Approach

While the interest in Aston Villa’s fixtures may wane for Sky Sports TV, as Dean Smith’s men slip out of promotion contention, there is still a good chance Villa’s fixtures may see changes for television, especially when you consider they play two of the title contenders in their last two fixtures.

When it comes to the penultimate weekend of the season, the usual period of five weeks notice for fixture changes, shortens to three weeks ‘in order to ensure the most appropriate matches are picked for broadcast’, according to the EFL & Sky.

Fixtures have already been chosen up until March 30th, so only seven Villa games are now up for grabs.

Apart from Villa’s final two games, there’s not really much to excite Sky TV selectors. Villa’s away trip to Sheffield Wednesday on April the 6th, sees them face their ex-boss Steve Bruce, but it’s very much a deadwood fixture for the neutral.

The home clash against Bristol City, who are in the play-off mix, maybe an option though.

The next round of TV matches will be announced the end of this week, with the five-week notice period coming into play, with the deadline for choosing games between 6th April and 10 April, made by 1 March.
