Striker Krmencik Villa Links and David Beckham’s Job For Steve Bruce

Miami Bruce?

The Sun have reported that ‘Steve Bruce is top of David Beckham’s wishlist to be boss of his new Miami team in the MLS.’

The actual article doesn’t say anything about their connection, beyond:

‘Bruce, 56, and Beckham, 42, have been close since their Manchester United days. The young midfielder was under the veteran defender’s wing at the start of his career.’

Beckham’s plans have been in the works for three years after he agreed to pay just £19million to create the club and buy land for their proposed stadium.

There are 12 other US cities bidding to create their own franchises, with the MLS only giving permission to four. just four to be given permission by the MLS.

It would certainly be an attractive proposition for Bruce considering his future at Villa will be questioned at the end of the season, whether he succeeds or fails in getting Villa promoted to the Premier League.

Krmencik Links

The rumour mill has suggested in the past few days that Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers have tabled bids for Victoria Plzen’s Czech Republic striker Michal Krmencik.

With Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb (who previously fleeced Villa for Bosko Balaban) reportedly also interested in the 24-year-old 6ft 3in forward, it has been the Croatian press that broke the story of the West Midland clubs interest.

They have given gone as far as saying bids have been tabled.

With 14 goals in 18 appearances for Plzen this season (including Europa League goals), plus seven assists, he’s mooted to have an all-round game to bring to a higher level.

The reports also suggest that Plzen are only interested in selling him in the forthcoming transfer window, if they can loan him back until the end of the season.

Coleman Villa Park Debut

Former Wales manager Chris Coleman will mark his return to club management when he brings Sunderland to Villa Park on Tuesday night.

It’s a tough gig for the man who took Wales to the semi-finals of the European Championships last year. Hopefully for Villa though, we won’t be a victim of ‘new manager bounce’.

Bargain Basement

Steve Bruce has suggested the only January transfer window additions will be bargains and friendly favours.

He told press this week:

“I have said before we are strapped with FFP (Financial Fair Play). We will have to beg, steal and borrow like we did in the summer, look at our options and see if one of my mates can do me a turn.

“We will have to deal with it. January is a long time off, we have a lot of football until January, it is a big Christmas period. It is that and the amount of games and especially at the top end of the pitch, that is the most important, let’s hope we can do something.”
