Surprisingly Good News On the Aston Villa Injury Front

Turn of Fortune

After every coming week recently has seemingly sent an additional Aston Villa player to the club’s treatment room, comes a mass discharge of players returning to the Bodymoor Heath training pitches.

The most surprising sight in training in the past day or so, was Mile Jedinak. The Socceroos captain had returned from having his shoulder injury assessed by a specialist, and is now close to getting the all-clear to play again. He may even feature against Millwall.

Jedinak had been expected to be out for a few more weeks, and if he needed an operation, potentially as late as the new year.

Considering what MOMS was saying on the latest podcast episode about how his injury could make him the biggest loss of all of Villa’s absent players over the winter period, this is good news.

“His trip to the specialist went well,” said Steve Bruce, on Jedinak’s swift return. “He has a training regime now and typically of Mile he wants to come back as soon as possible.

“It’s still sore, we thought he was going to need an operation. Thankfully it looks as if it’ll be quicker than we all thought.”

Captain’s Accelerated Recovery

John Terry is also looking to be back ahead of schedule which will be a further December boost, with Bruce suggesting he could be back before Christmas.

“Hopefully in the next couple of weeks John Terry will be back, too. He’s giving himself every chance.

“The recoveries can’t come quick enough with amount of games coming up. We’re starting to get people back.”

Cavalry

As already mentioned on MOMS, add to this both Scott Hogan and Gabby Agbonlahor being back in training to give Keinan Davis back-up upfront and Villa’s squad is starting to look healthy again.

With Henri Lansbury and Jack Grealish helping to turn the game against Leeds, after they both also had a period on the sidelines, it now looks like the cavalry is starting to arrive just in time.

The selection headaches for Bruce are about to take a turn for the good. Soon, they’ll be full of options.
