Beat Barnsley?

As each game passes by, Villa continue to slide down the table at an alarming rate. With a plethora of teams finding their feet in the Championship, all of our worse fears are playing out before us as Villa are being put at serious risk of being left behind the promotion pack.

With each draw being a nail in the coffin to Villas title hopes, the play-offs are still within touching distance and a win away at over-achieving Barnsley could kick-start Di Matteo’s Lions’ campaign

1. Throw the Kitchen Sink

If all else fails and Barnsley do break down the Aston Villa rear-guard there is a serious fault in The Tykes team and that is their own defending.

With attackers like Gestede, Kodjia, Ayew, McCormack and even Hepburn-Murphy, the best form of defence could be a more expansive attacking game. Throwing everything at the Barnsley goal would come at a risk, but could let Di Matteo reap rewards if Villa manage to finish some of the abundance of chances that we create in the majority of matches.

With Barnsley having conceded the most goals out of any team in the top half (13), they should be there for the taking with the attacking enforcements Di Matteo can boast.

Expect goals.
