Top Five Championship Grounds Voted the Best for Away Fans

Best Championship Away Grounds

Earlier today, MOMS published how Villa Park is viewed by away fans who visited the stadium last season, according to the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) Away Fans Survey. It seemed that surprisingly most visitors were not impressed by the facilities and set-up despite the size and history of the stadium.

Below are the five teams that topped the Championship for away day experiences last season, based on the ratings by visiting fans in the 2017/18 season, scored with an average out of 10.

Championship’s Top Five Away Grounds

  • 8.04 Cardiff City
  • 7.63 Preston North End
  • 7.62 Fulham
  • 7.48 Reading
  • 7.33 Burton Albion

(Villa’s rating was 6.25)

1,144 away fans in the Championship fans filled out the FSF Away Fan Survey, with 3800 across all divisions completing it.

Once again Cardiff City, previous winners of the FSF Away Day of the Year, performed very well scoring 8.04. It was the highest score recorded in the country, beating their Welsh rivals Swansea City, who ranked the highest across all divisions in last season’s Away Fans Survey.

Cardiff City was the most-liked away day in the Championship, while it was Southampton that were rated highest in the Premier League. Fleetwood Town finished top in League One and Chesterfield were rated highest in League Two.

Two of the top five away grounds in the Premier league last season – West Brom and Swansea City – will this season be in the Championship.

Premier League:

  • 7.67 Southampton
  • 7.63 Swansea City
  • 7.57 West Bromwich Albion
  • 7.08 Leicester City
  • 7.06 Tottenham Hotspur
